AI-optimized inventory management for major US healthcare provider

Background

A leading US healthcare organization developed an AI model to optimize supply cabinet inventory. The client aimed to cut the 0.5% stockout rate by clearing slow-moving items, making room for fast-moving ones. Our task was to create an AI model that predicts optimal min-max inventory levels for each cabinet. The AI forecast, delivered via Tableau or Excel, would be validated by supply cabinet personnel.

Impact

Our solution aggregated pharmacy order data efficiently across all locations. An in-depth analysis of the top six locations, representing 95% of order volume, revealed a high Weeks Of Supply (WOS) for 34K units of item X, allowing significant storage space reduction. We built an AI model to determine optimal order points and quantities for auto-replenishment, delivering valuable operational insights.
