The resources we were given access to, the interactions with various people, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere were like nothing I have ever encountered before in my professional life.

Tiger Analytics (TA): Hi Venu, you’ve been with us as an intern at Tiger Analytics. Could you share a little bit of your journey with us… How has it been for you?
Venu: Work-life wasn’t new to me. I had nearly four years of work experience in the corporate world before this internship. However, I was still blown away by the refreshing, supportive, warm atmosphere I walked into at Tiger Analytics.
Though it was a summer program, the journey started in February when we first interacted with Tarun Sir over a Zoom call to be briefed about the organization and its culture. Not only were we given a lowdown of what we would be doing over the summer as analytics consultants, but were also welcomed into the ‘Tiger Tribe’ with open arms.
TA: At Tiger Analytics, our tribe of passionate experts – our Tiger Tribe – is our biggest strength. And you’ve got a chance to experience that first-hand. How did you find that experience?
Venu:Â From the get-go, we interns were given the freedom to work at our own pace and without the pressure of unrealistic deadlines. We were allocated our projects and mentors in the second week of the internship, and the support and guidance I got from the latter, were exponential.
It was during this time that I could truly understand what sets Tiger apart from other organizations. The resources we were given access to, such as Udemy licenses, the interactions with various people, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere, were like nothing I have ever encountered before in my professional life.
TA: We take our learning seriously. During your time with us, you’ve worked hands-on on client projects, and had the opportunity to pick up new skills. What would you say were your biggest takeaways?
Venu:Â Coming to the project, I have never worked on data crunching; hence, the learning experience was huge. It was no small feat as this was a prestigious project for a well-renowned client. There was no room for slip-ups, but daily meetings with mentors and SMEs helped me track my progress. Tiger Analytics provided me with a framework to be self-sufficient, which made the weeks when I was working on the project much smoother. It helped me think like a consultant.
The challenge was that no matter how accurate your analysis might be, if you fail to document interactively and intuitively, all efforts are in vain. I used Power BI as a front-end visualization tool to make interactive dashboards that reflected my hypothesis. Then, I created a PPT that depicted my process. The only thing left was the final presentation, and I was extremely nervous.
However, the training and encouragement through the eight weeks came back to me at that point, and I was able to put my best foot forward. Despite much cross-questioning, I felt like I had done enough research to answer all that was asked of me and deliver a concise and accurate presentation. This would not have been possible without the immense learning over the two months at Tiger.
TA: Any last words or impressions you’d take with you as a part of this internship journey?
Venu: My entire internship was enriching, and only one thing would be it even better for me – if the virtual experience was so rewarding, I can only imagine what it would have been like in person. All in all, I could not have asked for a better introduction to the world of analytics.
